Pilates is designed to help individuals build upper core strength while simultaneously focusing on the mental aspect of an intense workout routine. While many pilates workout regimens can be difficult and leave you feeling exhausted and sore gentle pilates is designed to teach pilates slowly and gently. Rather than tackle all of the essential elements of pilates workout and exercises all at once gentle pilates first focuses on the mind and building the eight essential exercises.
Alignment- Proper posture and alignment are essential to the pilates workout routine.
Breathing helps to circulate blood flow as well as provide the body with enough oxygen to continue with strenuous routines.
Centering- Pilates requires control of “powerhouse” muscles; which refer to the abdomen, lower back, hips, and buttocks.
Concentration- Many of the pilates workouts require intense muscle focus for individuals to reach the maximum potential for the work out.
Control of muscles is an essential to properly practicing pilates.
Precision is essential for every individual when they are performing pilates because every movement created has a purpose.
Flow-Movement should be continuous while changing postures or performing exercises.
Flexibility -Many routines and exercises created in pilates require the individual to be flexible.
Gentle pilates allows people to master these exercises before becoming physically active.
Once one has mastered the eight essential exercises using the gentle pilates approach they then begin the physical workout routine. Starting first by learning only a few basic routine elements; such as transitional positions or common postures. These simple routine elements are then combined with larger elements over an extended period of time. This process continues until one has learned the entire workout routine slowly and extensively. Many people think this is the best way to ease into pilates because once you have learned the entire work out you are efficient and most of the process. Pilates works best when it is performed with extreme accuracy and with the dedication and practice that is needed for the gentle approach the process becomes easier.
Gentle pilates is recommended for people who struggle with muscle dysfunction. It is also commonly used as a technique to promote weight loss for individuals who struggle. In addition it is used by many physical therapists to relieve body pain as well as the stress that stems from it.
