Unlike women, men don’t usually have a strong fashion sense. They are well known for throwing on the first article of clothing they get their hands on. This is also true with mens yoga clothing. There are numerous articles of clothing available for women; however the men’s selection is rather limited. You typically see men practicing yoga in jogging pants and a t-shirt; and that seems to work exceptionally well. However, there are tighter and less restrictive yoga clothing that is available for men. Both tops and bottoms should be chosen with comfort in mind. You must feel comfortable with your yoga clothing, and it must fit properly. However, it should also not restrict any part of your body, nor should it get in the way of poses or movements.
For mens yoga clothing the biggest problem lies within the pants or shorts available. When it comes to pants, for yoga, they need to be on the tighter side so that they form to your body eliminating restriction and promoting flexibility. However, many men do not enjoy wearing tight pants and often times they are more of a nuisance then a benefit. Baggier pants are ok, most poses and movements can still be performed when one is wearing baggy attire. However, often times the extra fabric tends to get in the way and can deter poses and movements with emphasis on the legs. Another option is shorts. Many men love to wear shorts, and for yoga they are perfect. Tight shorts, loose shorts, long shorts short shorts; regardless of your style shorts of any sort are great for yoga. Shorts don’t restrict movement and they make it easy to perform many of the needed poses.Shirts in mens yoga clothing is not as restrictive as pants. Regardless of the type of shirt that is chosen it will work for yoga. Many men feel comfortable in t-shirts, others in tank tops and some prefer no shirt at all. Regardless, the shirt you choose should be either tight enough to eliminate restriction or tight enough to provide flexibility. Often times long sleeved shirts are not a wise choice because they can effect movement throughout the arm. Additionally lighter materials are always the best choice. Yoga is a form of exercise and often times people practicing it will sweat. Thicker materials, like those used for sweat shirts, would only lead to excess heat and possibly dehydration.
