Yoga Blocks

Yoga is a great method of exercise; it helps you tone your flabby muscles, it helps you relax, and it helps you to form a connection between your mind and body.  Another great thing about yoga is that it requires vary few pieces of equipment for full practice.  The pieces of equipment that are used are designed to aid individuals in achieving poses they would not normally be able to perform.  Yoga blocks are one of the most popular pieces of equipment because they can be used in array of different ways. The main function of a block is to aid individuals who are struggling with certain poses.  Blocks help the individual by providing support in areas where the body feels weak or even providing extra height to limbs and they are great at spacing body parts to help your posture in poses.  Blocks allow you to stretch better so you can strengthen and align your body without pulling muscles or harming yourself.

Yoga blocks can be placed under feet, hands, limbs and even your back or head to help you achieve the perfect pose.  This is extremely beneficial because yoga seeks to bond the mind and the body.  However, it is hard to focus on the internal elements of yoga when outwardly you are struggling with reaching your desired pose.  With the help of a block most people are able to pose properly and achieve good balance so that they can focus on connecting their mind to their movements; rather then focusing on not falling or letting a body part fall out of place.

Yoga blocks come in an array of different shapes, sizes and they are even made out of different materials.  Some blocks are made out of foam, others are pure wood and some are even made out of cork.  Blocks range from 2x2x2 to 12x12x12, making numerous size variants in between.  Most blocks are not square; the most preferred size of block is actually a rectangular shape 9x6x3.  Rectangular blocks can be used in an abundance of ways because they provide multiple thickness levels.  There are even circular blocks and blocks shaped like the neck or shoulders to help support individuals in the best ways possible.
