Most yoga supplies are relatively simple in design. The primary piece of equipment is nothing more than a rubber mat. However, despite their simple design, there are many different types of yoga equipment.

Aside from the mat, there are other recommended yoga supplies as well. Blocks, for instance, are a highly recommended for beginners that might not be as flexible as more advanced practitioners. These items are meant to make many of the poses easier by helping to support the body.

Straps and balance balls are also commonly used yoga supplies. Straps can be used to help stretch various parts of the body. Balance balls are often used as a support mechanism during certain types of poses.
